Anime Zero Potential Guide: Burn, Echo, Counter and Swap

Pick a path you can trigger in your usual fights. Echo repeats part of your skill damage, Burn rewards staying on a target, Counter needs timed parries, and Swap grants a bonus when you switch fighters. Try the first node in a familiar stage before choosing a branch.

Open Potential on the fighter you want to build

The Update 5.1 log says Potential replaced the old Skill Tree. In the Potential screen, check the fighter name, the points used and the points left before buying a node. The October 28 footage shows different point totals on different fighters on the same account.

The screen shows Loadout 1 and Loadout 2. Check the selected tab before you spend and read the counter after changing tabs. The footage establishes that both tabs exist. It does not establish whether they share a point pool.

Compare Burn, Echo, Counter and Swap

These are the starter effects visible in October 28 and 29 Update 5.1 footage. Check the tooltip in your current build before relying on a number from an older patch.

PathRecorded starterWhat to test
BurnHits apply a burn worth 8% of the hit damage. You can keep hitting to build stacks or use a skill to set them off.Stay on one target long enough to build stacks. If it dies quickly or keeps moving out of range, see whether you are getting a useful detonation.
EchoEach skill hit repeats 15% of its damage after 1.2 seconds.Land skills consistently, then watch for the delayed hit. Test against a boss as well as a pack to see how often that extra hit matters.
CounterA perfect parry triggers a nearby blast worth 50% of your combo. The tooltip shows a six-stud range and a four-second interval.Learn one attack you can parry on purpose. Count successful parries in a run before you build around them.
SwapThe incoming fighter receives a 22% boost for six seconds. The recorded tooltip shows a four-second ready window and a ten-second interval.Practice switching to a fighter whose useful skills are ready. Check whether you actually attack while the boost is up.

Choose a Pick One branch around your rotation

When the wheel marks a pair Pick One, choosing one node leaves its partner locked. Read both tooltips first. A bonus with a bigger number may still contribute less if its trigger rarely comes up for you.

  • Echo Trigger can detonate a pending Echo when a new skill lands. Look for whether alternating skills fits the fighter’s cooldowns. Echo Storm is a later node with another condition: land two different skills on the same target, then follow with a basic hit.
  • Burn Blast spends stacked burn on a burst. Keep the skill available when you plan to detonate. If you prefer to keep attacking the same target, compare the stacking option on your own wheel.
  • Counter’s Charge Up saves the parry blast for the next hit. Shatter keeps the area blast and extends its reach. Choose based on whether you can reliably land one follow-up on a boss or usually parry inside a pack.
  • Swap’s Power Rush shortens the boost and makes it stronger. Check whether your incoming fighter can fit its key skills into the shorter window before choosing it.

Spend early points and read the Reset price

The recorded starters and final nodes each show a cost of three points. Start with one route you can use now. After a few comparable runs, invest further if you can see the effect trigger reliably. Use the Bonus row for a condition you already meet, such as finishing a basic combo before a skill.

Check the Reset button on your selected fighter. The October footage showed different prices on different fighters. Read the cost and any confirmation prompt in your own game. The recordings do not show a completed reset or what happens to the other tab.
